Frank Larkey

Frank Larkey, Ph.D., is an artist working in Houston, Texas. He studied art at West Liberty State College in West Virginia, Houston Community College and the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. His instructors and teachers include Charles F. Schuch, Bernie Peace, Louis Kessling, David Hickman, Derek Boshier, Ed Hill, William Anzalone, Richard Stout and Gail Stack.

Since 1968, Larkey has exhibited his paintings, drawings and prints selectively in solo and group shows. His work may be found in private and public collections. His awards include the:

  • First runner up for Fairmont College Art Scholarship (1968)

Visual artist with who he has shown with include David Hickman, Bernie Peace, Karl Jacobson, Malinda Beeman, James Surls, Chuck Dugan, Dale Garman, Paul Kittleson, Ken Luce, Jon Picker, David Adickes, Albert Cherqui and Pedro Restrepo.

A unique contribution he has made to aesthetics is the exploration of the language of creative expression across art domains – particularly with composers. His collaborative works include events, paintings and musical compositions with such composers as Tobias Picker, Paul Cooper, Carlyle Floyd, Tom Borling, Paul English, Dan Kramlich, Carl Schaer and Charles Sepos. Frank continues to share his creative experiences with others through workshops, online presentations, and studio collaborations.
