Dualistic Reality

In seeking to understand the Oneness in human reality religions thinkers are immediately confronted by fundamental dualities. The most basic duality is the mind-body problem. “There are many others that have set philosophy’s agenda, of which freedom and causality, the subjective and the objective, consciousness and content, fact and value, are among the most important. For my purposes all these can be subsumed under a general distinction offered to us by Hegel, the distinction between Nature and Spirit” (Gordon Graham). The philosophical position of Idealism describe the efforts to overcome these duality through accepting the fundamental relationships between the dualities and neither affirming or denying the reality. Intuitive expressionism is one solution path for artists seeking to find unity in difference.
